Some creases and mild scuffing, as well as patches of fading/rubbing. The hardcover beneath is of red and light blue boards and has been well preserved. Light wear from shelving to edges, corners and spine ends. A little bumping of corners. "When forty-year-old Chris Martin decides to resume the career she put aside to become a housewife, her husband and children balk. How can they possibly fend for themselves while Chris is acting as a reporter for the local paper?
Unmoved, Chris begins her new job by covering typical women's issues until the paper's editor, in a moment of pique, sends her to cover a conference on drug and alcohol in lieu of the paper's chief reporter, Pete Schiavo. It seems that Pete himself has been drinking and generally wreaking havoc since his recent divorce.
Her first scoop is thrust upon her at once. During a break in the conference speeches, Chis steps outside to get some air - only to discover a body hanging from the fire escape.
To further jolt her existence, Pete Schiavo becomes obstinately attracted to her. His flattery and desire tug her out of her cocoon into a life where she can enjoy herself as she hasn't enjoyed herself in years.
Will Crhis be able to cope with the house, her husband's grumbling, and her son's and daughter's problems? Will she make sense out of the corruption, police intimidation, and blackmail that she has uncovered? Will she allow herself to be seduced by handsome, winning Pete?"
