Outside:
The dust jacket is intact. There is clear wear to the extremities, in particular on the spine ends. There is a rectangle section cut from one of the flaps. It appears that at one time there was tape holding the jacket flap to the book itself, and this tape has left marks. On the underside of the jacket, there is yellowing and some foxing and staining. It looks like at one time the jacket had adhered to the cover and then become unstuck- there is a small adhesion/hole and staining from the cover.
The hardcover is intact with obvious shelf wear (rubbing) to edges, ends and corners. There is particularly heavy wear to the ends of the spine, the bottom end has worn down to the book proper. The embossing on the spine is intact and legible.
The page margins (seen when book is closed) are stained and the top profile has been stamped.
Inside:
The binding is firm, however not aesthetically pleasing in places. Between the front cover and the front end-page there is some separation and netting is exposed as pictured. Netting exposed in a few other places as pictured.
Inside the front and back covers is stained by the use of tape in the past, also some foxing and tanning. The front end-page has been stamped with the names of various school libraries and there are also 2 ink inscriptions.
The pages are relatively clean and intact. Occasional spots or staining at margins. There is also the occasional library stamp throughout.
