Battle Scars:
Dust Jacket has been placed in a plastic sleeve for preservation. There is some wear to edges and corners and a couple of stains here and ther.. Dust jacket itself looks like it may have been too big for the plastic sleeve, resulting in some bunching beneath. On the backside of the dust jacket, there is some discolouration and colour transfer from the hardcover to the jacket. There is also some yellowing/discolouration/foxing. The hardcover itself is of beige boards and appears to be well preserved, with a little wear to edges/spine ends/corners as shown below. The black colouring on the spine has transferred a little to the dust jacket as mentioned. The binding is firm and intact. On the frontend and backend pages there is some staining from the placement of the dust jacket and on the frontend also what appears to be some kind of water stain (which persists for only a few pages). At the top of the frontend page there is a name written in ink that was crossed out and also a price written in grey-lead in the corner. The rest of the pages have some tanning and foxing but otherwise in good condition.

Book Content:
Blurb -
"George N. Patterson, in the words of J.B. Priestley, is an exceptionally militant and heroic Christian with a tremendous sense of humour. Add to these sterling qualities an unconquerable firmness of purpose, an enquiring mind and first class descriptive powers, and it is easy to understand how he has written the most illuminating, humorous and readable book about Tibet ever published.
When the Chinese Communists broke into Tibet, George N. Patterson was engaged in missionary work there - a labour of love. He had to leave in a hurry, and, for vitally important reasons, make a dash for India. Yet, despite the urgency of his Tibetan Journey - which maintains a throb of excitement all through the book - the author succeeds in presenting a magnificent picture of a superb, secretive and little-known land, with its hair-raising perils, strange customs, and tough, quaint, "earthy" people."
