One for the Road:
"There never was a cricketer - or a character - like Doug Walters. The boy from Dungog breezed onto the international scene in 1965 with a century in his first test and went on to become a legend in his time (or should that be a legend before closing time?).
When he bowed out in 1981, Walters had amassed 5,357 Test runs at an average of 48.26 to etch his name in this country's sporting history as a batsman of rare quality. With the ball he often broke partnerships with his gentle medium-pacers, finishing iwht 49 test wickets at an average of 29.08.
But this book is not about statistics or great cricketing deeds. "One for the Road" is all about the fun side of the game, and the people who make it that way.
Doug Walters epitomised the laid-back Australian cricketer and his very nature took him through some hilarious situations around the world. Cricket may have taken Walters out of Dungog, but it never took Dungog out of Walters. "One for the Road" is testimony to that."
The Best of Chappelli:
"When 'Chapelli Has the Last Laugh' first appeared in 1980, it was an immediate success. This hilarious collection of cricket stories by Ian Chappell and Austin Robertson, with wickedly humorous cartoons by Paul Rigby, was so popular that its title quickly became a misnomer. Far from being Chappelli's last laugh, it was the forerunner of the equally hilarious, 'Chappelli Laughs Again".
Now, whether you are a Chappelli fan, a cricket fan, or simply like a good laugh, you can enjoy the best of all three in this combined volume of the funniest moments in Ian Chappell's career.
It was a distinguished career which spanned almost two decades. He captained Australia in 30 tests, toured England three times and also South Africa, the West Indies, New Zealand and India. Always a humorist, in the course of that career, Chappelli collected a goldmine of outrageously witty and comical cricket anecdotes. They're all here in 'The Best of Chappelli'."
The Inside Edge:
"The summer of 1982-83 was very special for Australian cricket. It was the season we wrested back the Ashes from England. You had to be actually involved to really appreciate the feeling. Called it delayed euphoria, if you like.
It was certainly one of the high points of my cricket career.
It was a big season in other ways, too".
Australia came of age as one-day cricketers by leading England and New Zealand in the Benson and Hedges World Series Cup. And on the debit side, we lost a great leader when Greg Chappell stepped down.
'The Inside Edge' relives the highlights of that long, hot summer. It takes you behind the scenes. It may surprise you. If you enjoy reading as much as Austin Robertson and I enjoyed writing it, it will have been a most worthwhile exercise".
Smile Sport:
"Funny people, sportsmen - in more ways than one! From the sublimely amusing to the ridiculous, the sporting arena - be it a cricket field, golf course or billiard table - sees them all.
Sport can be a very serious business, but it's the sportsman's inborn ability to laugh at his friends, his foes and himself which sets him apart from those who merely look on.
Sportsmen of all sorts produce unforgettable characters - and you will find many of them in this book.
'Smile Sport!' is compiled by former Australian Cricket Captain, Ian Chappell, and Austin Robertson, who still holds the records kicked in a league season of Australian Rules Football.
It is illustrated by the incomparable artist, Paul Rigby.
Chappell, Robertson and Rigby have already collaborated on two best-selling sports humour books, 'Chappelli Has the Last Laugh' and 'Chappelli Laughs Again'.
You will find 'Smile Sport!' a worthy and rib-tickling addition to the family".
