Book Content:
"It was Paddy Dolan, the big Irishman, who pointed out to Adam Smith that we should all make the best use of the talents we have. What Adam had was unusual skill as a batsman and a great desire to leave the squalor of his home in an industrial town.
On the day he left school he also left home and set out to find work in the country. He had many adventures before he found Paddy Dolan's nursery and started to work there. He had more adventures before his skill on the cricket-field was noticed by the County. But, perhaps, the greatest adventure of all was learning to understand the people he met."
